“Floating with the
flow of the stream you see a doe and her fawn drinking from the bank
ahead…
…You
don’t realize it, but she’s watching you.”
When she decides
you’re close enough she coos to her fawn, and slowly leads it
into the trees. She looks back a couple of times to see if you chase
after them.
Should she get in a hurry to
escape…or not?
Ahead you spot a Bald Eagle
perched in a tree. His gaze follows you as you drift along. You are as
much a curiosity to this majestic creature as he is to you.
Your attention turns to a beaver
swimming in the shallows just off the bank.
Suddenly a bass leaps from the
water, flies over your bow, and falls back into the water on the other
side of the boat.
This is peace is it not?
The lazy bubbling of a small
rapid as you negotiate through its rocks.
The snort of a doe that says,
“I’ll tolerate you in my world, but only for a
short time.”
The playful antics of a beaver
as he takes a break from his toils.
The singing of birds from the
trees along the shore.
You’re so fascinated
with the tranquility that you dare not cause a disturbance by dipping a
paddle into the stream until forced to by the action of the water.
Yep, this is the life
– no cares, no worries - just stress-busting, relaxing nature.
So why not spend a week floating
and relaxing? And while you’re planning the adventure, check
out the Free Spirit camping site.
You don’t have a lot of
space to stow your stuff…my explorations teach me
to find space-saving equipment for those weeklong kayak and canoe
get-a-ways. You'll find stories about those adventurers on the camping site also.
